The Secrets of God!

Click here to listen to blog

“The Lord our God has secrets known to no one.  We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.”

Deuteronomy 29:29 (NLT)

What does God know that you don't know?  Well, the answer to that question is that God knows everything!

Someone has rightly said of human beings, "The more you know, the more you know that you don't know!"  With new knowledge comes the humbling awareness of how very much more there is that we don't know.  But, a little knowledge can convince you that you indeed know everything, when truthfully you know almost nothing!

Here is a sobering reality!  You are accountable for the truth that you do know and not the secrets of God that you don't know!  We like to explore the realities of God and add nuggets of truth to our treasures of understanding, but often we ignore the simple truths that even a child can grasp!  Jesus once said that my responsibility is to love God with everything that is in me and to love my neighbor as I love myself!  When I am busy with both of those things, I will find little time for discovering the secrets of God that He has not revealed!

When I spend my life being obedient to the Word of God that I can clearly understand, I will discover that God is pleased with His child!

"Lord Jesus, I know that You know everything!  There is no secret hidden from the mind of God.  Help me to trust, obey, and relax in the knowledge that You know everything there is to know in this world and beyond.  And may You Lord Jesus be praised forever.  Amen."

Blessed More Than Mary!

Click here to listen to blog

As he was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, “God bless your mother—the womb from which you came, and the breasts that nursed you!”   Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”

Luke 11:27-28

The mother of Jesus was certainly a blessed, or should I say very blessed woman! God selected her to be the one who would give birth to His own Son on this earth and she said "YES" to God. There are many followers of Jesus even today who honor Mary above all women.

But consider what Jesus said about His own mother. Jesus said that if you hear the Word of God and put it into practice, you are blessed more than Mary! How could that be? Could you know Jesus better than Mary did? Could you walk with Jesus in a relationship that is even closer than a mother with her Son?

Mary is to be honored for the role she submitted herself to in the birth and rearing of Jesus on this earth, and many Christians ignore her altogether, but consider this: If you are a follower of Jesus who hears the Word of God and put's it into practice you are blessed more than Mary!

So when you think about what it means to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, who puts His Word into practice remember that Jesus said in doing that you will be "Blessed More Than Mary!" What a precious thought and one that is worthy of pondering every day for the rest of your life here on earth!

"Lord Jesus, how could it be that I am blessed more than Your own mother by being obedient to Your Word. Such a thing is more wonderful than I can really imagine. But Lord, You said it and so I believe it! May You be praised forever, Lord Jesus, Amen."
