Wedding Parable!
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)
Revelation 19:7-8
There are two pinnacles of human experience. The first is marriage and the second is the birth of a child. When these two parts of life are given the role that God intended the ecstasy touches every nerve in our physical, emotional and spiritual beings. It has been more than forty years since I was a groom, but the memory is burned into my brain more deeply than the events of yesterday. It has been almost forty years since I became a father for the first time. I can still recall and relate that event with great detail and overwhelming emotion.
These two ultimate human experiences were created by God to be shadows of what is to come. That is surely why marriage and babies are at the forefront of Satan’s attacks on this world. Satan does not want us to understand the glory of “the wedding of the Lamb,” nor does he want us to know what it means to be “born again.”
The thing that brings lottery players back week after week even though they have not won “big money” is the dream of what it would be like if they did “hit the jackpot.” That hope keeps the impossible dream alive even though the real winners are few and far between.
As followers of Jesus we are allowed and yes encouraged to dream about a future with Jesus, the Wedding and Eternal Life with Him. But with Jesus winning is not a possibility, it is a certainty!
If on this earth you have experience a wedding untouched by Satan’s attempts to spoil the ecstasy then you can be assured that the Wedding to come will far exceed your greatest joy!
It is just another way that life on this earth is a Parable of things to come.
