God’s Global Warming!

The earth is defiled by its people;
they have disobeyed the laws,
violated the statutes
and broken the everlasting covenant.

Therefore a curse consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth's inhabitants are burned up,
and very few are left.


Isaiah 24:5-6

The debate about “Global Warming” continues. Is the earth getting catastrophically warmer and did man cause it to do that? Most importantly, can we turn global warming around by reducing our “carbon footprint?”

According to the prophet Isaiah there will be a time when a “curse” will consume the earth because of the actions of men. That curse will result in most of the inhabitants of the earth being burned up. Is Isaiah referring to global warming, a nuclear holocaust, or something else altogether? After the prophecy is fulfilled, those who are still alive will know the answer.

Regardless of how the prophecy is fulfilled Isaiah says the people who disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes, and broke the everlasting covenant must bear their guilt! It is the state of man without Jesus Christ. If a man has not accepted Jesus and come to Him on His terms then he must still bear the guilt of his sins. When a man comes to Jesus Christ his guilt is transferred to Jesus who has already paid the price for his sins!

If Global Warming is part of the earth’s inhabitants “reaping what they have sown” then reducing the carbon footprint will not turn it around. The answer is not in “footprint,” but rather in “repent.”

Repentance and a worldwide turning to Jesus Christ will solve the problem nicely. I remember a rather blunt sign that said it well. The sign said simply: “TURN OR BURN.”
