Destruction from the Almighty!
Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.
Because of this, all hands will go limp; every man's heart will melt.
Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.
See, the day of the LORD is coming —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger— to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.
Isaiah 13:6-9
One of the standard arguments against the existence of God is this: Why would a good God allow evil to exist in the world? That is a very good question and the answer is that He will not allow evil in the world to go on forever. There will be an end to it and the end will be dramatic. No one who opposes God will get away with rebellion against Him. The scales will be balanced. Justice will rule. Sin will come under the mighty judgment of God. The Bible clearly says that the “day of the Lord” will not be a pretty sight. It is called “a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger.”
When a man understands what will happen on that day it is enough to “scare the hell out of him!” No one will escape.
Today the world is like men falling into a pit while partying on the way to the bottom. We pretend that “things will be alright, things will get better, they always do, and we are strong and will get through it.”
If the day of the Lord is upon us, and this very well may be it, things will not be alright for the world, things will not get better even if they always have before and we are not strong enough to get through the judgment of God.
The world may never turn their hearts toward God, but you can. Fall down before Him and call upon the Name of the Lord! Seek to know Him and direct your steps at His command. Then let the Day of the Lord come. You will have nothing to fear from the One who died for you that you might live forever with Him. If you have made peace with God through Jesus Christ even death cannot harm you!
