When we love others, we know that we belong to the truth, and we feel at ease in the presence of God. But even if we don’t feel at ease, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if we feel at ease in the presence of God, we will have the courage to come near him. He will give us whatever we ask, because we obey him and do what pleases him. God wants us to have faith in his Son Jesus Christ and to love each other. This is also what Jesus taught us to do.
1 John 3:19-23
How do you feel when God is near? I suppose I should first ask, "How do you know that God is near?" The answer to that question is that God is always near. He is not a God who is far away. He is always near to us, but we are not always near Him.
When God is near you can be sure that He knows everything there is to know about you. He knows the good things you have done and he knows the bad. God knows the righteous thoughts that have run through your mind and the evil ones. When you confess a sin to God, it is always something that He already knew.
There is no way you can be near God and fool Him about who you really are and what your heart is like. It is all laid bare before the Father. Without the Blood of Jesus Christ, no one could be at ease in the presence of God. We would all run away because His holiness would shine the light on our filth.
If you are comfortable when God is near, it is because you are trusting in the Blood of Jesus to take away your sins so that God will see you as He sees Jesus! Then you can bring all of your concerns before the Creator Himself. What an amazing way to deal with the things that bother you!
"Lord Jesus, thank You for making the way for me to be at ease when God is near. Lord, You are everything I need now and forever. Amen."
