Who is the King?

Click here to listen to blog

After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee and told the good news that comes from God.  He said, “The time has come! God's kingdom will soon be here. Turn back to God and believe the good news!”

Mark 1:14-15

What is the Kingdom of God? The term is used today to mean many different things. We often use the term "Kingdom of God" to refer to the Church as it exists around the world. But the Kingdom of God in my life is simple: God is the King and I am His subject!

I suppose it is harder to understand a "Kingdom" for those of us who live in "democracies" where the people can vote in or out their leaders. Since God is King, His Word is the final say in everything. Someone once said "God said it, I believe it, and that settles it!" But the truth is if "God said it, that settles it whether I believe it or not!"

When you choose to be part of God's Kingdom you defer your will to the Will of the King! When you are trying to determine which way to go in life, the overriding factor must be the Will of the King! Everything else is irrelevant. As human beings we consider factors like talent and ability, money and resources, and a thousand other practical issues that may mean nothing at all to God. If God wants to send you and sustain you on a path for which you have no human qualifications, then as a faithful subject of the King of kings, you must go that way!

Of course God often does use men and women in ways that take advantage of their natural abilities for His glory, but the direction of your life must come from the Will of God, not an aptitude test!

"Lord Jesus, give me the ears to hear every Word that comes from You, so that I will know which way to go today! And may You be praised forever! Amen."
