When these rulers have become as evil as possible, their power will end, and then a king who is dangerous and cannot be trusted will appear. He will gain strength, but not on his own, and he will cause terrible destruction. He will wipe out powerful leaders and God's people as well. His deceitful lies will make him so successful, that he will think he is really great. Suddenly he will kill many people, and he will even attack God, the Supreme Ruler. But God will crush him!
Daniel 8:23-25
As you read these verses you probably began to think about a specific leader of a country. Since this blog is available wherever you can use the internet around the world I'm sure the description of a leader who lies, is successful and thinks he is really great would fit a number of heads of state. I won't name any here, for fear that I would leave someone out of the list!
When you hear the lies of a leader and then you see him succeed in spite of his deceit you can easily be tempted to despair. You may cry out: "Where are You God! Why do we have to suffer because of our leader?" But instead of giving up, remember the stories of wicked leaders that God used, such as Pharaoh and even Nebuchadnezzar.
If you have an evil leader, you can know for sure that in the end "God will crush him!"
Remember how Nebuchadnezzar went from the king's palace to wandering the fields like an animal and was indeed "out of his mind." No one can stand against God and win. That is an Eternal Impossibility!
"Lord Jesus, You are the only Perfect leader. You are the One who will rule forever and ever! Help me today to be at peace no matter what the wicked leaders of this world may do! Praise Your Holy Name. Amen."
