Savior of the World?

"We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world."

John 4:42b

The world is in big trouble. Financial trouble, climate change, and now disease spreading around the world all have the potential to bring the world to its knees.

If the financial difficulty spirals out of control it will be every man for himself. If climate change is real and accelerates large portions of the earth may become uninhabitable. If diseases continue to mutate because of the overuse of drugs we may be overtaken by a killer disease which leaves almost no one alive.

The world is waiting for the “other shoe to drop.” We are waiting for the weapon of mass destruction to be launched against millions of people. We are certain it will happen, but we don’t want to panic anyone. We are standing at the door of hell waiting to be ushered in while trying to encourage everyone to be nice to each other as we stand in line. The world as we know it is doomed and most folks recognize that fact.

Our reaction to that grim reality is to apply the age old way of dealing with situations like this. We “eat, drink and are merry, for tomorrow we die!” If we ignore it, maybe it will go away.

This world needs a Savior! Now more than ever someone needs to say to the world "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Of course you know that someone has already uttered those words. Does Jesus’ offer of rest apply to people in the world today? Is Jesus powerful enough to be the Savior of the world today? Without a doubt, Jesus is the solution to all of our problems.

Here is the final dilemma. A false Christ will present himself to be the Savior of the world and for a while the world will believe him.

Don’t be fooled, there is only one Savior of the world and His name is Jesus. Let Jesus be the one to bring you to your knees!
