A ruler who listens to lies will have corrupt officials. The poor and all who abuse them must each depend on God for light. Kings who are fair to the poor will rule forever. Correct your children, and they will be wise; children out of control disgrace their mothers. Crime increases when crooks are in power, but law-abiding citizens will see them fall. If you correct your children, they will bring you peace and happiness. Without guidance from God law and order disappear, but God blesses everyone who obeys his Law.
Proverbs 29:12-18
This chapter has an interesting mixture of comments about governments, leaders and children.
The statement: "Crime increases when crooks are in power" perhaps should spark a debate in all the "free" nations of this world. The reason is, laws do not stop crime, leaders do! A culture with a criminal mentality in it's leadership will encourage everyone to participate at some level in lawlessness. Whereas, a nation with a God fearing man or woman of character and integrity at the helm of the ship of state will see crime decrease!
These verses also say that "without guidance from God law and order disappear!" In the United States we have systematically attempted to remove the guidance of God from our nation, and law and order have run away!
Respect for God and a healthy fear of the Almighty are essential to a free society that is stable and at peace with itself!
"Lord, in my country, we have tried to remove You from the Wheelhouse of the our Ship of State. And Lord we are discovering that without You as the Pilot of our ship we are doomed to destruction. Save us Lord from our own foolishness! I do pray that it is not too late for us to turn back to You. Amen."
