Like a branch that sprouts from a stump, someone from David’s family will someday be king. The Spirit of the Lord will be with him to give him understanding, wisdom, and insight. He will be powerful, and he will know and honor the Lord. His greatest joy will be to obey the Lord. This king won’t judge by appearances or listen to rumors. The poor and the needy will be treated with fairness and with justice. His word will be law everywhere in the land, and criminals will be put to death. Honesty and fairness will be his royal robes.
Isaiah 11:1-5
These Words in the Old Testament speak of Jesus Christ! Prophetic descriptions of Jesus are as good as eye witness accounts of His life. When the Holy Spirit tells someone what to write about Jesus you can be sure that it is a perfect description, in every way!
Jesus had the Spirit of the Lord with Him who gave Him understanding, wisdom and insight. Jesus was powerful and He knew and honored God. And the greatest joy of Jesus was to obey God! What brings joy to your heart?
There are many joys in this life. There is the joy of friends and family, the joy of giving and being a blessing to others, the joy of "a job well done" and a thousand other things.
Jesus must have enjoyed many things during His life on this earth, but one thing was His greatest joy! The GREATEST JOY OF JESUS was obeying God! So if you want to be like Jesus, and you want to experience the greatest joy on earth, then set your heart to be obedient to God! Everyday look for ways to be responsive to His Word so that you can touch and experience the GREATEST JOY OF JESUS!
