Jesus has You Covered!

7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Genesis 3:7-8

When Adam and Eve ate the fruit and took the first step in the fall of man they immediately became self conscious. After the fall the word “Self” became the operative word for all men. Men became self conscious, self absorbed, selfish, and the center of their own world. “What about me?” became the cry of every heart.

The second reaction to their new “self oriented” world was to hide from God. Before this happened Adam and Eve would surely run to meet the Lord when He came walking in the garden, like a little child running to meet his or her father when he comes home at the end of the day.

On the first day of the “Fall of Man” Adam and Eve revealed the state of man ever since. Men are totally consumed with themselves and their own needs and they run, not toward God, but away from Him.

Somewhere in Scripture it says that Jesus came to destroy the works of the Devil. The Devil works to make all men self centered as they run away from God. So when Jesus destroys the work of the Devil in my life what will I notice first of all? The first evidence that the Fall of Man is being reversed in my life is that I will begin to forget about myself and then start running, not away from God but toward Him!

I have heard many discussions on the evidences of a man’s salvation. Perhaps the easiest evidence to identify is this: Has the Fall of Man been reversed in my life? Am I still totally concerned about covering my own nakedness and when God shows up do I run and hide?

When a man or woman comes to Jesus the game of hide and seek makes no sense anymore and there is no more need to cover your own sins because Jesus Himself has you covered!

  1. Question: Could you please give a few examples of the 'fruits' of today; i.e. (possibly) the love of money... yadda yadda. Thanks
