Grand Finale?

Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes.

Isaiah 52:8

About a dozen years ago my wife and I and our son Peter saw something streaking across the sky. We were driving north about nine o’clock at night. There was a clear sky and the stars were brilliant. Then suddenly and without warning a large ball of fire moved from the east to the west for a few seconds before burning out. Was it a large meteor, a satellite re-entering the atmosphere on a death plunge, or even an airplane tragedy in its final moments?

I couldn’t wait for the next news cycle to give me all the details of what was obviously a huge story. There was no story. There was no explanation. It seemed that no one had seen this massive fire ball except the three of us. It was before the days of Google so my search for information may not have been that extensive, but what we had clearly seen on that starry night was apparently given no press at all!

As a Christian are you seeing things that the world around you is ignoring altogether? Are there indications that God Himself is bringing everything to a “Grand Finale” while no one notices what is happening?

If you are a watchman of what God is doing, then watch and warn those around you but don’t forget to shout for joy! Don’t be surprised that no one else sees what you see and no one hears what you hear. Like Saul on the road to Damascus you will hear the voice of Jesus and the world will think they are hearing thunder.
