Is Your Name in the Book?

There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

Daniel 12:1b-3

The first time I ever saw my name written in a book I was impressed. I was impressed enough to spend the money to buy a copy. It was called “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.” It was a pretty cool idea. If you put a profile of “top” students, and there were thousands of them in a book most will buy a copy! I think I still have that book somewhere, but I haven’t looked at it in at least thirty years. It was a great money making scheme which probably bordered on being a scam.

There is only one Book where your name really matters. The Book is called the Book of Life and if your name is written there you will be delivered! This Book is not a money making scheme and it is certainly not a scam. It is rather a record of those who have repented of their sins and given their hearts to Jesus Christ. If you have been clothed with His righteousness and risen with Him to a new life then your name is written in the Book.

Have you ever attended a meeting or a class and when the role was called you discovered that your name was not on the list of enrollees? That can be mildly embarrassing. But when Jesus returns and looks in the Book to see if your name is written in the Book of Life it will be either eternal ecstasy or tragedy.

If you have not responded to the call of Jesus in your life DON’T WAIT ANOTHER MINUTE! The reading of the Book of Life may come at any moment and there will not be a second chance to get your name included.
