Good and Better!

7Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. 9For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.
Revelation 11:7-10

Before the days of television the idea of men from every people, tribe, language and nation all looking at anything together was a fantasy and beyond our imagination. With the invention of television the fulfillment of Revelation 11:9 became a possibility. But still how could everyone look at it at the same time? Then came satellites and international live broadcasts. The impossible became totally possible with the internet and live webcams.

In a recent report about a clash on the temple mount Fox News reported that the Arab youths who started the incident would be found because “every foot of the Old City of Jerusalem is covered with security cameras.” So nothing can happen in Jerusalem that cannot be broadcast simultaneously to the whole world!

For those who have faith God gives an occasional “I told you so” by allowing us to see a link between His Word and the world in which we live.

Years ago someone came up with the saying, “God said it, I believe it and that settles it!” That saying is on the target but misses the bull’s-eye. The truth is this “God said it and that settles it whether I believe it or not!” It is wonderful to see the Word of God confirmed in the world around us. But it is even more wonderful to believe the Word of God even when we see nothing of confirmation in the world. That is called faith.

Of course there is nothing wrong with seeing the Word confirmed in the things that are going on around you. We will all see that as we walk with the Lord. But the more important thing is this: Do you trust and obey the Lord Jesus even when you see nothing that He said confirmed in the world around you? Are you building your ark without a cloud in the sky? Do you stand on the Word of God when it is confirmed only by the faith that God has given you?

When you see proof that the Word of God is real and accurate, that is a good thing. But when you need no proof to believe that His Word is true, that is better yet.
