No Dogs in Heaven!


Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
Revelation 22:15

In the middle of the most descriptive picture of heaven in the Bible, and the firm assurance that Jesus will return there is this list of those who will NOT be in heaven. In stark contradiction to the movie “All Dogs Go To Heaven” this verse clearly says there will be NO DOGS IN HEAVEN! Before you get all worked up let me assure you this is not talking about Rover.

This is a Bible example of what we would definitely describe as being “politically incorrect.” The Holy Spirit through the Apostle John is calling those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, murderers, idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood dogs!

Those sins are pretty specific and relatively easy to understand how to identify in our lives and the lives of others with one exception. What is “loving and practicing falsehood?” Frankly, I think this sin is woven into the fabric of the American culture. Anything other than truth is not almost truth it is falsehood. There are many examples of how we love and practice falsehood even in the most polite exchange with another person. “How are you? I’m fine.” But falsehood goes up the flagpole in our culture to the point of expecting our political leaders to lie skillfully.

So here is the challenge. Examine your heart and falsehood. Do you practice it knowingly and do you love it? If you do then let the Holy Spirit convict you and lead you to repentance.

Get ready because the King is coming!
