I, the LORD, also promise you a terrible shortage, but not of food and water. You will hunger and thirst to hear my message. You will search everywhere-- from north to south, from east to west. You will go all over the earth, seeking a message from me, the LORD. But you won't find one.
Amos 8: 11 - 12
What would it be like to live in a world with no Message from God? There, of course would be no Bible and no one saying that God had anything at all to say about a situation! There would be no standard of morality. All laws would be simply one group enforcing their will on another!
Countries today that, “Officially reject God” show us a little of what it would be like. A strong-man leader can become “god” to the people and demand their worship and total loyalty. If the people displease such a leader he can kill them like ants at a picnic and feel no guilt about it!
But there is no shortage of messages from God today! The Bible is filled with God’s messages! The rainbow still exists reminding God not to destroy the earth with a flood again! The heavens themselves declare the Glory of God!
When will this “terrible shortage” of messages from God occur? Amos does not say when it will happen or if it has already been fulfilled, but you can know for sure that, “man cannot live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes out of the mouth of God!”
Messages from God are everywhere today and we must listen to them and obey His Word!
“Lord Jesus, thank You again for speaking to our hearts Your Message which gives us hope for all of Eternity. Praise Your Holy Name, now and forever. Amen.”
