Unspoken Miracle

On the first day of the week we met to break bread together. Paul spoke to the people until midnight because he was leaving the next morning.  In the upstairs room where we were meeting, there were a lot of lamps.  A young man by the name of Eutychus was sitting on a window sill. While Paul was speaking, the young man got very sleepy. Finally, he went to sleep and fell three floors all the way down to the ground. When they picked him up, he was dead.  Paul went down and bent over Eutychus. He took him in his arms and said, "Don't worry! He's alive."  After Paul had gone back upstairs, he broke bread, and ate with us. He then spoke until dawn and left.  Then the followers took the young man home alive and were very happy.

Acts 20: 7 - 12

This "miracle" of Eutychus being restored to life after falling out of a three story window while Paul was preaching is really quite unique.  The Bible says that Eutychus was dead after the fall, but he was dead for just a few minutes.  Paul went down and "took the boy in his arms" and declared him to be "Alive."  Paul did not even use the event to demonstrate and declare how wonderful the power of God was in raising Eutychus from death!

Instead of Paul declaring this to be a "healing service," he simply took a break for a meal and then preached some more until the sun came up!

You may have heard people say that they have an "unspoken prayer request."  This story of Eutychus is about an "Unspoken Miracle."  Some assume that Paul performed the miracle and raised Eutychus from death.  These verses do not specifically say that is what happened.  Quite obviously, the power of God raised Eutychus back to life, but it does not say that Paul ask God to do it!  Paul was the one who first noticed that the boy was alive again.

I believe the Power of God is at work in the world around us every day.  Of course, God's response to the requests of faith are seen as miraculous events, but He also works apart from our prayers to accomplish His Will!

Life itself is a miracle that is totally supported by God!  Without His Power every animal, plant and human being on earth would die!

God's unspoken miracles are all around you!  Praise Him for them, as well as the miracles you ask for and see Him accomplish!

"Lord Jesus, thank You for working every day to sustain all life on earth!  Give me the courage today to speak to everyone about Jesus, but also help me not to forget Your Unspoken Miracles!  Praise Your Holy Name now and forever.  Amen."
