The Strength of the Lord

Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong.  Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil's tricks.  We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm.

Ephesians 6: 10 - 13

Machines are truly amazing.  An old, tired and even sick man can move tons of dirt in only a short time if he has and knows how to use a machine called a “back hoe.”  A back hoe uses a gasoline or diesel engine to pump oil through lines which move “hydraulic cylinders” and when attached to a large scoop can do the work of many men working with only shovels.  Every machine multiplies the efforts of a man to do more than he could otherwise do!

The difference between prosperous nations and those who still struggle even to grow enough food for their people is basically the use of machines.

The ultimate “machine” is the Lord Himself.  His power is so great that He needs no assistance to accomplish anything!

It is an astonishing truth, but God makes His strength available to you as a follower of Jesus!  One man or woman, filled with the Holy Spirit can accomplish more than ten thousand men working with their own strength!

There is an old joke about how silly it is to bring a knife to a gun fight.  It is not a joke, but you are absolutely foolish if you only bring human weapons to a battle with “forces and authorities and rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world.”  When the “Evil Day” comes, and it will, make sure that the strength of the Lord has made you strong! Then you will be standing firm when the battle is over!

“Lord Jesus, help me to fight the battle today with the weapons You have provided.  I am weak, but You are strong!  May Your Holy Name be praised now and forever.  Amen.”
